Growing Trend of Greenery and Fresh Surrounding to Open New Doors of Opportunities for Consumer Floriculture

Consumer floriculture involves flower arranging, floral design, flower arranging, flower enhancement, gardening, potting, packaging, and product manufacturing. Consumer floriculture provides excellent training programs for their staff and takes efforts to maintain a competitive edge in the industry. One of the most important factors that have an impact on the growth of this business is the introduction of new advanced technologies, new improved techniques, and the introduction of new floral varieties.

Growing awareness regarding the greenery and fresh surroundings is fueling the market growth of consumer floriculture. Rapid urbanization and increasing disposable income of the consumer is also propelling market growth. According to the United Nation, in 2018, 55% of the world’s population lived in urban areas, a proportion that is projected to reach 68% by 2050. Projections show that urbanization, the gradual shift in the residence of the human population from rural to urban areas, combined with the overall growth of the world’s population could add another 2.5 billion people to urban areas by 2050. Increasing advancement has resulted in the production of genetically modified flowering plants which is further projected to foster the growth of the consumer floriculture market over the forecast period.

From the geographical point of view, the Asia Pacific is projected to gain significant growth over the forecast period and this is attributed to the high demand for the flower which is fueling demand for floriculture. According to the India Brand Equity Foundation, India produces 2.158 million tons of flowers during 2015-16. Flower crops are grown in almost all the States. The major flower growing States are Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Haryana, Assam, Chattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
