Antibacterial Drugs

Antibacterial drugs are one of the commonly prescribed medicines to fight infections like bacterial vaginosis and gonorrhea. Antibacterial drugs have various uses and their efficiency also depends on their use and their administration. Generally, antibiotics can be classified into two major categories: systemic and topical. Systemic antibiotics are available as pills, capsules, powders, ointments, and sprays, while topical antibiotics are available as creams and lotions. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Antibacterial drugs can either kill or prevent the germs that cause infection. Therefore, they are regarded as primary agents in the fight against infection. Systemic antibiotics like fluconazole, erythromycin, ciprofloxacin, and chloramphenicol are available in tablet, capsule, or powder form. They can either inhibit the growth or kill the bacteria responsible for the infection.

Erythromycin, ciprofloxacin, and chloramphenicol are usually used for' ear infections and men with unresponsive itching conditions in the genital region. Systemic antibiotics like erythromycin, ciprofloxacin, and chloramphenicol are used to treat yeast infections and vaginal candidiasis. These medicines can also be used to treat athlete's foot and nail fungal infections. When used as topical preparations, these antibiotics have to be applied directly to the affected skin area or the affected site. Oral antibiotics like penicillin and doxycycline are available as creams, gels, and suppositories for women and as pills for men.

Systemic antibiotics like erythromycin, ciprofloxacin, and chloramphenicol are usually taken to treat bacterial vaginosis and urinary tract infections in women. Systemic antibiotics are also useful for treating sepsis that is a life-threatening blood poisoning caused by harmful bacteria and viruses. Antibacterial pills are also available for women to control the spread of bacterial infection from one part of the body to another. Some of these pills help to protect the individual from various complications such as boils, abscesses, ear infections, etc.
