Neonatal Ventilation And Nasal CPAP Market Is Gaining Major Traction With Innaccel Launching SAANS, A Neonatal CAPA System For Infants With Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Sudden infant death syndrome, also called SIDS, is a medical condition in which an infant dies within hours of birth from lack of ventilation. The majority of cases are attributed to asphyxia (lack of oxygen), although some medical factors such as infection or respiratory infection can also cause it. Although the exact cause is unknown, a high percentage of deaths can be traced to spontaneous breathing. Developed economies such as the U.S. are the early adopters of technologically advanced products, gaining significant traction in the neonatal ventilation and nasal CPAP market. On contrary, emerging economies such as India and China are exhibiting high demand for neonatal ventilators due to the development of new healthcare facilities and the expansion of hospitals in the countries.
One of the key reasons behind the
high demand for neonatal ventilation is high neonatal mortality rates,
especially in emerging economies. With rising preterm births with respiratory
disorders, the demand for neonatal ventilation devices is likely to accelerate
rapidly. As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2019,
the infant mortality rate in the U.S. is 5.58 deaths per 1,000 live births.
Similarly, as per the World Bank, in 2019, the infant mortality rate in India
was 28.3 deaths per 1,000 live births. Thus, such factors can stimulate growth
of the neonatal ventilation and nasal CPAP market.
While traditional, central-style, and
pressure-limited ventilators are still commonly used, recent advancements in
technology have afforded improved options for parents and caretakers. New
technology allows for the easily adjustable suction setting for all types of
ventilators, including ventilators designed specifically for premature infants.
Despite its numerous advantages, the high initial cost related to neonatal
ventilators remains one of the major challenges in the growth of the neonatal
ventilation and nasal CPAP market. Besides, lack of adequate clinical evidence
supporting novel technology could limit growth of the neonatal ventilation and
nasal CPAP market in the near future.
Over the years, neonatal ventilators
have improved significantly with continuous research and development
activities. The introduction of non-invasive methods and enhancements currently
available invasive respiratory devices has led to the adoption of neonatal
ventilation systems in both developed and emerging economies. Hence, such
advantageous factors can augment growth of the neonatal ventilation and nasal
CPAP market.
Recently, in April 2019, InnAccel
launched SAANS, a neonatal CAPA system for infants with respiratory distress
syndrome.
